Answers to common questions about working together.

Everything from session length and cost to how to get started. If your question isn't here, reach out and ask.

What types of therapy do you offer?

I provide online therapy for adults in California who are struggling with anxiety, loneliness, trauma, lack of meaning in their life, theological issues, and life transitions. My approach is integrative and evidence based, primarily using CBT, Logotherapy, and psychodynamic psychology, integrated with Biblical theology, depending on your needs.

Do you offer online therapy?

Yes. I provide secure online therapy sessions for clients located anywhere in California. Online therapy allows us to work together without the need for travel.

What issues do you specialize in?

I specialize in helping adults who are dealing with:

  • Anxiety and chronic worry
  • Trauma and unresolved past experiences
  • Loneliness, isolation, and fear
  • Finding meaning in life
  • Issues surrounding leadership
How long does therapy take?

The length of therapy varies depending on your goals, what you're working through, and your desires. Some clients notice improvement within a few months, while others prefer or need longer term support.

How do I know if you're the right therapist for me?

The most important factor is whether you feel comfortable working with me. Therapy requires teamwork between the client and therapist, and I understand the importance of knowing your therapist is the right fit. That's why I offer a free 15 minute consultation.

How do I get started?

You can schedule a free consultation to talk about your goals, what you would like to work through, and whether working together is a good fit. If you feel comfortable, we'll create an appointment. You can reach me by email or phone on the Contact page.

Do you accept insurance?

At this time, I do not accept insurance. That said, if applicable, I can provide superbills so you can seek reimbursement from your insurance.

What is your rate and how long are the sessions?

My rate is $150 and sessions are 50 minutes. I do not offer a sliding scale or reduced fee.

What are your hours?

My hours are Monday and Tuesday from 1 to 5 pm, and my last session starts at 4 pm. My hours are limited because I'm also the pastor of a church.

Mental health

Getting the Love You Want

by Harville Hendrix

Three sections build on each other: The Unconscious Partnership, The Conscious Partnership, and the Exercises. Together they help readers understand the root issues behind their marriage difficulties, see how to change habitual behavior, and make that change through practical exercises.

The Body Keeps the Score

by Bessel van der Kolk, MD

Explores how trauma affects the brain, body, and nervous system, and why traumatic experiences can keep shaping emotions, relationships, and physical responses long after they happen.

The Emotionally Healthy Church

by Peter Scazzero

Drawing on his experience at New Life Fellowship Church in Queens, New York, Scazzero shows how discipleship can look beneath the surface to address past wounds, grief, and personal limitations, rather than only treating behavioral symptoms.

The 5 Love Languages

by Dr. Gary Chapman

People express and receive love in five distinct ways. When your partner speaks your primary love language, you feel secure. When they speak a different one, your tank empties. Learning your love language and your partner's helps you fill each other's tanks.

Desiring God's Will

by David Benner

Benner teaches that many Christians try to follow God through sheer willpower and rigid self-determination, which only breeds exhaustion or secret pride. True transformation means moving from willfulness, forcing our own agenda, to willingness, an open and loving surrender to God.

Staring at the Sun: Overcoming the Terror of Death

by Irvin D. Yalom

An existential psychiatrist explores how the universal, often unconscious fear of mortality drives our day to day anxiety, psychological distress, and behavioral patterns.

Leadership

In the Name of Jesus

by Henry Nouwen

Most leadership books focus on systems and efficiency. Nouwen looks instead at the inner life of the leader: the internal struggles we face, and how we follow Jesus as we lead.

Victory Over the Darkness

by Neil Anderson

Teaches how to overcome spiritual struggles and negative thinking by understanding your true identity in Christ. Our vocations, finances, accomplishments, and failures don't define us. Who we are in Christ does.

Life Together

by Dietrich Bonhoeffer

Written from Bonhoeffer's experience leading an underground seminary for the Confessing Church at Finkenwalde during the Nazi regime, it outlines how believers can live, worship, and serve together in Christ.

The Ragamuffin Gospel

by Brennan Manning

Teaches that God's grace is unconditional, boundless, and free, rather than something earned through religious performance or moral perfection.

Canoeing the Mountains

by Tod Bolsinger

Outlines how the church has moved from a central, supportive place in culture into an unfamiliar post-Christian world. Pastors are trained as canoers, experts in stable and known environments, but now face mountain challenges where the old maps and methods no longer work.
